Emanuel Newton knew knocking out Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal wouldn’t be a onetime occurrence. During the seminal round of Bellator’s Season 8 light heavyweight tournament, Newton used a spinning backfist to land the shocking victory.
The rematch is now set for Bellator 106, which will be the promotion’s first pay-per-view. They meet for the interim title, as the champ is out with an injury.
“Mo runs his mouth,” said Newton. “I know the trash talking. I do all my talking in the ring and I need to shut his mouth to shut a lot of other mouths. I’m ready to get it done.”
Newton would go on to win the Season 8 light heavyweight tournament and Lawal emerged the victor from the 2013 Summer Series to create the interim title fight.
Bellator 106 goes down November 2 from Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, CA.
