Stieglitz: Froch far too good

Robert Stieglitz: Hopes to face winner of Carl Froch-George Groves Robert Stieglitz: Hopes to face winner of Carl Froch-George GrovesRobert Stieglitz expects Carl Froch to be a class above George Groves and hopes to face ‘The Cobra’ in a world title unification clash next year.

Groves was due to challenge Stieglitz for his WBO super-middleweight title last May, but was forced to pull out of the fight due to injury.

This setback forced Groves to wait another 18 months for his first world title shot, but he gets his big chance against WBA and IBF champion Froch on November 23, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Stieglitz will keep a close on his two rivals, with a possible fight against the winner on the horizon, and is favouring Froch to retain his belts with a convincing points win.

The German believes Froch is far too experienced for the 25-year-old Groves and will prove himself as the superior fighter.

“I’ll try to watch the fight here in Germany, because it’s in my division and Carl Froch, as the WBA and IBF world champion, is one of my possible opponents in the future for a unification,” he told skysports.com.

“Groves was scheduled for a fight with me 18 months ago, but he quit.

“In this fight Froch is my favourite. He has the better technical skills, more experience in tough fights and with his long hands he’ll dominate the fight.”

“Groves may be a good boxer, but he is young, with less experience and he needs fights with good opponents in his record to develop.

“So, Froch will win clearly by points and after my successful mandatory defence against Arthur Abraham, in the beginning of 2014, the winner Froch could be a possible challenge to fight!”
